Down syndrome then and now

This evening, Greg and I took Kepler and went to our daughter’s show choir Christmas concert. The concert was wonderful. The show choirs at her high school are excellent and do very well in contests year after year.

Each time we attend an event at the high school, I am amused and interested to see how many people know Kepler; how many greet him; how many are so glad to receive a hug from him.

I decided to post this poem I wrote awhile back about down syndrome and Kepler. My understanding and feelings have changed tremendously over these nearly ten years. He is truly one of my greatest gifts.
